We got the pulled pork, brisket, and smoked turkey. With sides of beans coleslaw and Texas Toast for the bread, it was a $60 combo and it fed our family of 3. We even had some leftovers as well. Let me tell you, all three meats were delicious and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be going back! I usually don’t like smoked Turkey but this was next level good!
Visit 7/6/2024. WOW!! Spot on BBQ. IF you LOVE TEXAS BBQ, you've found your new home. If you are a big fan of Hutchins BBQ or Black's BBQ from Texas? You'll LOVE Nellie's. This is NOT ARIZONA BBQ. This is BBQ done right. Not kidding, there IS a difference. We did the BBQ pork ribs,, super moist brisket, cream corn, mac n cheese, coleslaw and corn bread. Everything was awesome... on that note, the thick deep pan cornbread, reminded me of my mother's. As you may know, I'm quite the critical of coleslaw, I'll toss it out after one taste if it sucks. This coleslaw has a touch of apples and is very appealing. Mac & cheese was really creamy and delicious. Let's say too, Lorri and I "shared" a 2 meat plate which I didn't get but a taste of her jalapeño sausage before it was GONE. Lorri finished off the cream corn too, she normally doesn't like store bought cream corn, so that should speak volumes about how good the cream corn is. My only critique? That little square of cornbread we got wasn't nearly enough! We had to go back for more. Andy came out and we about talked his ear off (it's a southern thing). Great place... this is our new go-to for BBQ y'all. Texas Roadhouse is now our backup... Nellie's cornbread is THAT GOOD!
Five stars all around! This place is a must try. Amazing service and had a great conversation with the restaurant manager about their story. And most of all, the food was so good. We got the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork combo with mac and cheese. Some of the best BBQ I’ve had in Arizona and very reasonable prices. SO much better than the local chain Colt’s. Nellie’s is real Texas BBQ, and you could just taste the love and quality put into the meats. Not to mention the sauces are delicious. I will most definitely be a frequent customer here. Thanks for a great experience, Nellie’s BBQ!
This is a great place to satisfy a craving for BBQ. The barbecue brisket sandwich, coleslaw, and potato salad were excellent. I haven’t tried the burger, but I plan to.
I do have a suggestion, I would recommend an option of serving steak fries or sweet potato fries as a side.
The restaurant is located off of Highway 69 between Kachina Pl and Hwy 169 next to a storage facility. You have to drive in the back parking lot to access the restaurant entrance.
On our way back from Phoenix and had to check it this newish BBQ place. We are just never out this way at the right time, until today! Made it just in time for dinner!! I got the brisket burger with pepper jack and bacon and mac n cheese for side. The meat was so tender!! We will have to come back!!
This is where Lucky BBQ use to be...
