NIKU Japanese Kitchen

This is a newer restaurant in Ottawa. They’re still working out some of the kinks. The food is pretty decent. The service is OK. The chairs could definitely be more comfortable. Otherwise, it’s a nice place to get a good meal for reasonable price. I would recommend the hibachi boxes. You can have your choice of steak, shrimp, scallop, etc., or a combination. It comes with a sample of sushi, a couple of spring rolls, some vegetables, rice, and miso soup. The crab rangoon is a nice appetizer.

We stopped at NIKU for lunch on a road trip. What a surprise to find a restaurant of such quality with great clean and delightfully prepared entrees!
The salmon and teriyaki chicken rice bowls were exactly what we were looking for in good food just off the interstate. The courtyard patio dining made us feel we were in a different country! This restaurant has only been open for six months, but the owners are definitely seasoned in the art!

Prices are reasonable and the service is great! The restaurant site is spacious; however, the metal chairs are uncomfortable, and the bench seating isn't much better. The food is tasty, and the portions are enough to generate leftovers. The crunchy roll that comes with the 3 meat hibachi box is delicious. However, the steak was a bit fatty, and the chicken was bland. The shrimp was the most tasty of the three meats that come in the box. It's nice to have this restaurant in Ottawa! We ordered a meal to bring home to our son.

I stopped in for lunch today and it was amazing. I got the chicken katsu bowl which was delicious. Large portion size that was so filling. My friend was super excited to find a deep fried sushi roll on the menu that she tried and said was super tasty as well. Service was awesome. I'll definitely be making a return trip here.
